On Sunday, 4/15, Bridge hosted its 26th Annual Dinner/Dance fundraiser.  An afternoon of food, dancing and socializing made the event fun for one and all.  This year, Bridge implemented a new method for announcing the raffle basket winners.  Numbers were drawn by a board member and the winning number listed on a board for guests to view prior to leaving.  While not perfected yet, this provided more time for music and dancing which was well received by guests.

Honored this year were Sir Knight Michael Hilley, PKG, FDD and the Olympia Council Knights of Columbus #394 for their work to help the unborn.  S.K. Hilley and the council were instrumental in obtaining an ultrasound machine at New Beginnings medical facility located in Queens.  Bridge board members supported the council in their efforts to obtain this funding.

This was an important advancement in the mission to protect the unborn as this gives Bridge and other pregnancy service centers a place to send their pregnant women for an ultrasound in Queens.  The sonogram enables women to see that they are carrying a life – a baby.

Check out our Facebook page for more photos from this year’s dinner – a fun time was had by all.  And, even more important, a good cause, Bridge, was supported.

Despite the Fourth Nor’Easter to hit New York City and its coast, the 2018 Student for Life Association’s (SFLA) Momentum Gala on March 21, 2018 continued on with great success.  As is the case with the today’s youth, they streamed the event so individuals who couldn’t get into NYC because of cancelled flights or bad roads could attend virtually!

One of our own volunteers, Ms. Norvilia Etienne received the National Champions of Life Award at the gala for her fight to get a SFLA group on Queens College.  After applying to start the group, college administration refused to recognize the club without exclamation so Etienne took legal action against the school which quickly relented.  The Queens College SFLA group is becoming one of the leading pro-life forces in New York City, and with the group’s assistance, The Bridge to Life now has a voice on a secular NYC college campus!

Young college students that are pregnant and afraid now have on-campus support through their SFLA group who often refer them to Bridge.  Because of SFLA, these young women can now go into the campus nursing office and be given an option for life-affirming choices.  She no longer has to feel that she has to either choose between the life of her child and the life that she dreams to have.

We congratulate Norvilia Etienne and applaud the Queens College SFLA group for their determination and their passion towards the sanctity of human life.
